Mbappe fitness issues are rising before a decisive European evening when Kylian Mbappe is running very fast to show that he is fit to play the decisive match of Real Madrid against SL Benfica in the UEFA champions league.
The French striker has been experiencing chronic pain on his left knee. The problem has made his participation in the crucial second-leg play-off at Madrid questionable. He has even missed a recent league game and also experienced pain during training last week.
It is reported that Mbappe does not play at full potential. Medical personnel suppose that the injury would not deteriorate in case he plays. He is however estimated to be working at approximately 60 to 70 percent fitness. It is anything but an ideal level on which a high-intensity European match is favored.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid are optimistic that he can yet make a difference ahead of the worries. Mbappe is also one of the most decisive attackers of the team. Minutes of his would affect the result of the match even in a limited amount.
Madrid are narrowly ahead (1-0), with the first leg of the match played in Lisbon. Mbappe was present throughout the game, yet he never appeared at his best. His movement also seemed limited in the recent league loss and this raised more questions on his status.
The coaching team is still optimistically waiting. They assume Mbappe will do anything to see the team out of a critical situation in the season. In case he plays he might be in need of a short term rest after the play to treat the knee issue.
It will probably rest on how he will perform during the final training session prior to kickoff.
