Jorrel Hato Set to Join Chelsea?

International news sources said on Monday that Chelsea is close to a £40 million deal with Ajax for defender Jorrel Hato. Reports say that Hato has already agreed to the terms of his move to Stamford Bridge. The two clubs haven’t signed the deal yet, but they should be able to do so in the next few days.

If Enzo Maresca signs Hato, it will be his seventh signing of the summer. He will join Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap, who have already signed with the Blues this summer. Chelsea would have spent more than £250 million on Hato, on the other hand.

Ajax gave the 19-year-old an opportunity to play with the seniors when he was 16 years old. Since then, he has played for the club 111 times, scoring four goals and setting up nine others. Since his first game for the Netherlands national team in 2023, when he was 17 years old, he has played in six games.

Jorrel Hato also played for the Netherlands’ under-21 team at the Euros this summer, where he led the team to a loss to England in the semifinals.

Maresca’s team will play two pre-season friendlies at Stamford Bridge before the new season starts. If the move goes through, Hato could get a chance to make his debut in one of these games.
