Brighton and Hove Albion have agreed in principle to capture Watford forward Joao Pedro in a club-record fee. It is expected to be a club-record fee for Brighton, surpassing the £20 million paid for defender Adam Webster by Bristol City in August 2019. Pedro has been with the Hornets since January 2020, but he appears to be on his way out after two and a half seasons.

Last season, before Watford’s relegation, the Brazilian scored three goals in 31 Premier League games. Pedro, Watford’s highest scorer this season with 11 goals in 35 Championship games, is expected to finalize his move when the transfer window opens in June. Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi hopes to add to his striker options, including Evan Ferguson, Danny Welbeck, and Deniz Undav.
