Joao Cancelo leads transfers in Germany, Isco deal off
Bayern responded on Tuesday after watching its lead in the Bundesliga dwindle to just one point by acquiring Cancelo, a player who had lost his starting place at Manchester City, on a loan deal till the end of the season with an option to buy for 70 million euros (about $76 million). According to Bayern’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann, the transaction took place only in the recent last few days. Isco, a former star player for Real Madrid who is currently a free agent after being released by Sevilla, was on the approach of completing an unexpected deal to join Union, but the transfer fell through on Tuesday afternoon.
Oliver Ruhnert, the general manager of the union, stated that there had been a last-minute attempt to alter the terms of the agreement. Given that Union has never qualified for the Champions League and that the club has only been playing in the top division since 2019, despite the fact that it is now in second place in the Bundesliga standings, the transaction would have been unexpected.
