Hugo Ekitike Joins Liverpool

Liverpool signed French forward Hugo Ekit wasel$93 on Wednesday. Ekitike was Liverpool’s second-most expensive summer purchase. In June, the Premier League champions signed German midfielder Florian Wirtz, who can play as a winger or striker, for a club-record 100 million pounds plus add-ons.

Liverpool said, “The 23-year-old passed a physical and signed with Liverpool. This allows him to fly to Hong Kong later this week to join his new teammates on their Asia pre-season tour.”

In 2024–25, former Paris St. Germain player Ekitike scored 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances. He helped Frankfurt reach the Europa League quarterfinals with four goals.

Ekitike debuted at Reims as a senior. In 2022, he joined PSG on loan and played 25 times in Ligue 1, winning the French title. He joined Frankfurt on loan in 2023 and permanently a year later.

Frankfurt Sporting Director Markus Kroesche said, “It’s a strong story for him and Eintracht Frankfurt that he’s moving to one of Europe’s top teams with the greatest ambitions and opportunities.”

“Hugo has earned this move, and it shows that we can give players a great chance.”

Liverpool will defend their Premier League title against Bournemouth at home on August 15.
