Cristian Romero ended all the uncertainty about his future by signing a long-term deal with Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.
The club made the 28-year-old Argentina international its new captain earlier this summer after Son Heung-Min left for MLS side Los Angeles FC, where he had two years left on his contract. Reports say that Romero’s new contract will last until the end of the 2028–29 season. His contract predicament made people worry about his future, and Atletico Madrid showed a lot of interest in him throughout the transfer window.
But the Spurs have now locked up one of their most important players for the time being. Romero has been an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s team since he joined north London in 2021. He is a World Cup and two-time Copa America-winning centre-back.
