Hernandez and Kimpembe return from long-term injuries for PSG

Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe have returned to Paris St. Germain after long-term injuries, but manager Luis Enrique says they will need time to adjust before Friday’s game at Auxerre.

Kimpembe has been out for almost two years after rupturing his Achilles tendon in February, while Hernandez had surgery in May after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in PSG’s Champions League first leg semi-final.

These players return. Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe got used to the team “Enrique informed reporters Thursday.

“Rhythm and training time are needed to improve the squad. Their return to the group is fantastic news after their injury.”

PSG, undefeated in Ligue 1 and leading with 33 points from 13 games, play Auxerre, Lyon, and Monaco before the conclusion of the year. Luis Enrique stated they have tough games remaining but want to beat eighth-placed Auxerre, who play well at home.

“I think we have an intense schedule but the idea is more or less to control the players’ workload and prepare for the matches properly,” he said.

“Normal schedule. Well-organized Auxerre has good home results and is hard to play. We must win.

“They’ve won many home games. They have learned side reversals and are doing well. They’re on a roll, it’ll be tough.”

PSG are 25th in the Champions League despite playing well in Ligue 1. Luis Enrique said: “We can overcome our challenges which is good.

“Good season still. The 54-year-old said the Champions League was good despite blunders. “These results did not correspond to what I saw on the pitch.”
