Guardiola Warns of Man City’s UCL Risk

Manager Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City’s current slump puts them at risk of missing next season’s Champions League.

City, seeking a 15th straight season in Europe’s elite club competition, have won only one of their previous eight Premier League games and are seventh, 12 points behind Liverpool. Guardiola’s team trails Nottingham Forest, the fourth and final Champions League qualifier, by four points.

“People scoffed at my previous statement. ‘Qualifying for the Champions League is not a major success’. But I know that because it happens with clubs in this nation “Guardiola told reporters before their home match against Everton.

“They were dominant for years but missed the Champions League. The only team in the Champions League for years is Manchester City. Naturally, we’re at risk.”

City play Leicester City on Dec. 29 after hosting Everton on Thursday.
