Guardiola Marks 1,000th Match in Style

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola celebrated an incredible achievement when his squad won Liverpool in the Etihad stadium by a whopping 3-0 on Sunday, his 1,000th game in charge. The victory has left City squarely on the title chase in the premier league with a gap of only four points between them and the Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Erling Haaland broke the deadlock in the 29th minute as he redeemed himself after missing a penalty earlier which was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Norwegian striker converted an ideal cross by Matheus Nunes, who had a good team move to provide City with an early lead.

Liverpool seemed to reply just before the half-time when Virgil van Dijk netted a corner of Mohamed Salah but the goal was ruled out because of offside on the reason that Andy Robertson had interfered with the play.

Soon City followed suit and within minutes, they doubled the score and Nico Gonzalez shot a long-range shot, which bounced off Van Dijk and Mamardashvili was left powerless. The objective shut down the Anfield opponents and predetermined the second half.

Belgian winger Jeremy Doku completed the laconic score with a masterpiece solo. Doku cut inwards on the left and bent a 20-yard shot perfectly to the top corner which made his scoring style prove to be very useful as he troubled the Liverpool defence all through the game.

The victory shifts Manchester City to the second position in the Premiership table and snaps up the recent momentum of Liverpool. The club of Guardiola now appears to be ready to make a great title bid, and this time the 1,000 th managerial game of the Spaniard was a success.
