Govt Dismisses Ronaldo Meeting Claims

Reports of any forthcoming meeting between Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and worldwide football star Cristiano Ronaldo during his Indonesia visit have been denied by Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance.

“We thus clarify that the rumors revolving around a meeting between the Finance Minister and Cristiano Ronaldo are false,” Head of the ministry’s Communication and Information Service Bureau Deni Surjantoro stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In reaction to a rumor implying that the Indonesian state treasurer intends to accompany Ronaldo, sometimes known as CR7, at a dinner and a charity event during the visit of the Portuguese national to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), he issued the remark.

Surjantoro underlined that neither Minister Indrawati nor her department have developed such an agenda.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer Ronaldo is allegedly planned to visit NTT for social and charitable events, including a meet and greet with local cancer survivors, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

“He is set to assist cancer survivors in Kupang in the company of the Graha Kasih Indonesia Foundation,” acting Governor of NTT Andriko Noto Susanto told at his office in Kupang on Monday.

After landing in Jakarta on Tuesday, the player, who presently plays for Al-Nassr in the top-tier league of Saudi Arabia, reportedly intends to fly to NTT on his own plane.

Susanto hoped that CR7 would bring hope to the local youngsters and motivate them to pursue in his footsteps during his visit.

He also said that the football player’s visit is expected to increase Kupang and NTT’s tourism numbers.

The scheduled visit of the all-time leading scorer of the Portuguese national team has been reported to the province government by the NTT provincial organization of the All-Indonesia Football organization (PSSI).

According to the letter, the Graha Kasih Foundation plans to bring former Juventus player to meet with acting governor Susanto to address issues pertaining to football and NTT’s development.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. local time in the governor’s office in Kupang city.
