FIFA Club World Cup: PSG Dominates Atletico Madrid

On Sunday at Rose Bowl Stadium, European Champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) started their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

In the 19th minute, Fabian Ruiz scored the first goal for PSG with a low shot into the bottom corner. Just before halftime, Vitinha made the lead even bigger by hitting a shot through the midst of the Spanish club’s defense.

Atletico’s Julian Alvarez scored, but it was ruled off because Koke fouled Desire Doue in the build-up. In the 87th minute, Senny Mayulu scored a third goal, and in injury time, Lee Kang-in scored a penalty goal.

PSB has scored 12 goals and given up none in their last three games, including a 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

Luis Enrique, the coach of Parisien, lauded his team’s effort after the game.

“Every player has been getting better and displaying the team their best quality. “I’m very happy as a coach,” Enrique stated.

Vitinha, who won Man of the Match, noted that it is always a team effort.

“I’m going to talk about the team, as always.” It was a great game, and even though it was hot, we played well against a really good team. Vitinha remarked, “Everyone knows Atletico is a tough team and an aggressive team, but we did very well.”

“We were able to control the whole game. “We could have scored more, but we’re happy with the score,” he said.

On Thursday night, PSG will be back at the Rose Bowl to play Botafogo.
