FIFA and PFF NC discussing constitutional problems

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalisation Committee acknowledges the sad circumstance caused by the newly-elected PFF Congress’s non-compliance with FIFA Constitution amendment requirements. The Normalisation Committee is in constant contact with FIFA and PFF Congress members to resolve this issue.

Remember that FIFA appointed the Haroon Malik-led PFF NC to streamline Pakistan football affairs and conduct fair and impartial elections across the country, but they failed and Pakistan was suspended again.

FIFA, the world football governing body, suspended the Pakistan Football Federation late Thursday night, shocking the Pakistani football community. This suspension is due to the PFF’s violation of FIFA rules.

FIFA announced that the suspension will continue until the PFF Congress adopts FIFA and AFC constitutional reforms.

These revisions aim to make PFF elections transparent and democratic and bring the federation up to international standards. The suspension was due to the PFF’s failure to undertake FIFA-mandated constitution revisions.

Due to its lack of openness and democracy, the PFF’s credibility has been questioned. Pakistani football would suffer from the suspension, as its national sides will be barred from international competitions. Pakistan will also lose FIFA financial and technical aid.

Thus, Pakistani football teams cannot compete in FIFA events or qualifiers. Pakistan will lose FIFA funding and development projects. The suspension will further discredit Pakistani football globally.

PFF changes must meet FIFA requirements to lift suspension. To ensure transparent and democratic elections, change the PFF constitution. According to the new constitution, the PFF must organize elections. The PFF must also be transparent, accountable, and fair.
