Ecuador defeated Qatar in the opening match of the World Cup. World Cup hosts Qatar made a disappointing start to their campaign with a 2-0 defeat against Ecuador. The opening FIFA match was played on Sunday night at the Al Bait Stadium in which 60,000 spectators watched the match. The first goal from Ecuador’s side was scored by their experienced player and captain Enner Valencia in the 16th minute on a penalty kick, in the 31st minute the second goal from Ecuador was also scored by Enner Valencia.
