The Houston Dynamo moved on Monday to improve their chances of scoring by adding striker Amine Bassi. This move is the latest component of the team’s roster change and brings a player initially from France onto the roster. Dynamo adds F Amine Bassi from France’s Ligue 2. After finishing last season with a record of 10-18-6 and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the fifth straight year, the Dynamo have added Bassi, 25 years old, as the seventh player to their first-team squad this year summer. He is under contract with the club through the 2024 season, and the club has options for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Bassi saw limited playing time dNancy-Lorraine. Bassi scored 26 goals with 17 assists in 129 games from 2016-21. they were during his time with FC Metz over the past two seasons. This season, FC Metz was demoted to the second tier of competition in France’s Ligue 2. In addition to his move to the MLS permanently from Metz, Bassi spent the 2021–22 season on loan with Barnsley of the English Championship. He appeared in 15 games for Barnsley, scoring two goals and dishing out five assists. Bassi has represented Morocco at the U-20 and U-23 levels.

“Amine is a creative attacking player with the potential to make a significant impact on our team this season,” Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said in a release. “His versatility to play different positions makes him a valuable addition to our roster, and, at 25 years old, we are getting a player entering the prime of his career.”
