Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible return to Old Trafford?

The former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has stoked the speculation for Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible return to Old Trafford.

In an interview with BoyleSports, Brown hinted that Ronaldo could come back to make amends for his sudden and controversial exit in 2022. Regarded across the board as one of United’s greats, Ronaldo’s deal with the club was ripped up in November after a very public falling out.

Former teammate Brown says, “The fans were disappointed how it all ended the second time around for Ronaldo. I think he may come back and sort out some unfinished business.”.

Now approaching 40 years of age, Ronaldo remains one of the best footballers in the world, performing for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

Brown emphasized that even in his return to Manchester United for the 2021/22 season, Ronaldo showed his class by becoming the Premier League’s third-highest scorer with 18 goals. “It was disappointing how it ended,” Brown said, reflecting upon Ronaldo’s exit. “He had been one of United’s best-ever players.

I think for him to come back in some way would be great. His return to United in 2021 was greeted with fanfare, at least from the stands, even if the club itself has failed to win any major trophies during his second spell so far. Erik ten Hag replaced Rangnick as manager the following summer, and Ronaldo’s relationship with the club eventually broke down later that year.

Ten Hag’s finally first trophy in six years with Manchester United was sealed when the team won the Carabao Cup, and he recently added an FA Cup triumph to his collection. While Brown’s comments are still doing the rounds, Manchester United fans can’t help but dream as to whether or not there is any glimmer of hope for Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford.  Ronaldo’s status at the club is already secure, and any potential return would go down as one for the ages for both himself and Manchester United.
