Cristiano Ronaldo’s Loan to Al-Hilal Doesn’t Add Up

Esteve Calzada, the CEO of Al-Hilal, remarked that it would have been “completely counter-intuitive” to loan Cristiano Ronaldo out before the FIFA Club World Cup.

There were rumors that Al-Hilal might make a bid for Ronaldo after FIFA opened up a new transfer window earlier this month. But Esteve Calzada refuted the rumors when asked if they were close to signing the forward.

“We don’t usually talk about players’ situations, especially since our name always comes up when a player or an agent wants to get a better deal with his club or is trying to leave,” Calzada said.

“This transfer window has been quite strange; it’s only been a little time. You don’t want to make a decision based on this tournament that you have to live with for the next two or three years.

“Even though I respect Ronaldo as a great player, and we all know he is, it doesn’t make sense to bring the biggest player of your biggest rival to play with you.” Especially when it’s just for three to four weeks.

The Portuguese’s contract with Al-Nassr ends at the end of June, but he hasn’t signed a new one yet.

But after Portugal’s amazing win over Spain in the UEFA Nations League final, Ronaldo hinted that he might stay at Al Nassr.

“What’s next? There won’t be any changes. What is Al Nassr? “Yes,” Ronaldo told reporters after the game, in which Portugal beat Spain 5–3 on penalties after a thrilling 2–2 draw.

Ronaldo, who is 40 years old, joined Al-Nassr in 2022. He scored 25 goals in the Saudi Pro League, making him the league’s leading scorer. His team, on the other hand, came in third with 70 points. Al Ittihad, the league’s champions, had 83 points, and Al Hilal, the second-place team, had 75 points in a 34-match league.
