Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Benni McCarthy’s Praise for Secret Gesture

In praising Cristiano Ronaldo, Benni McCarthy also reveals the secret reason he would always be “grateful” to him.

Working with CR7, the former Manchester United coach labeled him the “greatest of all times” and blasted the “youngsters” of the club for not fully utilizing “his regime, his methods, and his approach to staying as sharp and in shape as he is.”

“You know what?,” he said Ladbrokes during the launch of Gaffer of all Accas. Working with Cristiano Ronaldo was just fantastic. It was great since you have a guy with football inside out. In my opinion, he turned into the best player of all time; I cannot speak for everyone else.

“So it was quite wonderful to just see the drive and determination he still had at his age, you know, especially compared to the younger players around him,” he said.

The five-time Ballon d’Or award winner also said he always “trained well” and supported him with the younger players, saying, “Take note because Benni knows what he’s talking about.”

McCarthy said, “So I’ll always be thankful for him in that sense since it got all the younger players on board. When we worked in training, during finishing drills and simply on our depth in front of goal, he was the one with that seal of approval. And he gave his okay about the activities we were engaged in.

Ronaldo also worked with McCarthy for Manchester United during his second term (2021–2022); he represented the team for six years from 2003 to 2009 before to that.
