Al Nassr striker, 39, is playing in his record sixth European Championship.

CGTN claimed that he will be 43 when the 2028 Euros are held in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.

Ronaldo told RTP: “It’s my last Euro. But I’m not upset. Football’s excitement, the fans’ enthusiasm, having my family here, and people’s passion move me.

It’s not about leaving football. What else can I win or do?”

Portugal defeated Slovenia in a Euro 2024 round of 16 penalty shootout this week.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner missed a game-winning penalty in late extra time but converted his team’s first shootout effort.

Ronaldo: “Football is about trying and failing. I will do my hardest for this shirt, regardless of success. As you saw, I missed the penalty, but I wanted to score first on the penalty shootout because you have to take responsibility when the team needs to.

“You can’t be afraid, I’ve never been afraid to face things head on, sometimes I get it right, sometimes I don’t, but giving up is something you’ll never hear from my name.”

According to Ronaldo, winning Slovenia gave his squad “a boost of energy” as they prepare to face “favourites” France in the “difficult” quarterfinals on Friday.
