Cristiano creates history by leading Super Cup final

Al Nassr qualified for the Saudi Super Cup 2024 final after Cristiano Ronaldo guided his club to a 2-0 win over Al Taawoun. In the Super Cup semi-final on Wednesday, Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season and became the first player to score in 23 consecutive seasons. Al Nassr’s first goal of the season got him into the final against longstanding rival Al Hilal.

After winning, the 39-year-old Portuguese football great celebrated with followers on social media. He posted photos from the match on Instagram with the caption “Super Cup final here we come!” Not the entire match was fun for Ronaldo and his team. A red card in aggregate time disqualified Al Nassr’s Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic from the thriller final.

After the red card, Ronaldo watched Brozovic’s play on the bench and said he couldn’t believe the officials harmed Al Nassr again. His reaction went viral on social media.
Al Nassr wants to appeal the verdict in hopes of downgrading or rescinding the red card before the final next Saturday against Al Hilal, which has dominated the 2023-2024 leader charts. Ronaldo’s club lost the King’s Cup and Saudi Pro League, but the Super Cup final gives him another chance to win in Saudi Arabia.
