After what Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag believed would be a season-ending ankle injury, Christian Eriksen will be included in the matchday squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Everton.
Christian Eriksen: Manchester United midfielder will return from injury
During United’s 3-1 FA Cup win against Reading on January 28, Eriksen was injured by a tackle from Reading striker Andy Carroll. Thus, he had to leave Old Trafford using crutches. Since then, he has not played for Ten Hag’s squad. Until his injury, the 30-year-old had become a vital part of United’s offence. It contributed seven assists and scored once in 19 Premier League games.
Although Ten Hag is relieved that Eriksen will not miss the whole three months that were expected. It is nonetheless frustrated by the manner in which the injury occurred. Ten Hag gets some good news with the return of Christian Eriksen. However he will be without left defender Luke Shaw for Saturday’s match against Sean Dyche and the Toffees.
Shaw was taken out in the first half of Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Brentford, so he won’t be able to play. Although Ten Hag will benefit from Eriksen’s return, he will be without left defender Luke Shaw when Sean Dyche’s Toffees travel to town.
“I was so angry about that tackle,” the United manager said. “It was a really bad tackle and a bad injury. I thought we lost him for the whole season.
“He is ahead of schedule and we are very happy with that.”
