We haven’t seen Chelsea start a game with as much energy as they did at Stamford Bridge, especially when they played Tottenham away. Leeds just couldn’t get out of their own half without a group of men in blue shirts chasing them and getting the ball back for the home team.
Chelsea 1-0 Leeds United, Premier League: Post-match reaction, ratings
Chelsea had many chances to score after a long time without one, but the best ones came from Kai Havertz, who missed a great one-on-one chance by shooting straight at Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, and Joo Félix, whose great shot hit the crossbar. In the last few minutes, Leeds would fight back and keep the ball, but they didn’t do anything that made the score look like it might change.
In the second half, Chelsea came back with the same drive they had in the first half. Soon, a goal was scored when Ben Chilwell took a great corner kick and Wesley Fofana jumped up to meet the ball and put it in the back of the net.
The goal made Chelsea nervous, and they tried hard to hold on to their slim lead while Leeds put pressure on Kepa. After a couple of substitutions, we even switched from a 3-4-3 formation to a 5-4-1 formation, with the wingbacks joining the defensive line.
