PSG will be Liverpool’s last-16 Champions League opponent. Arne Slot’s side finished top of the league phase, but given they play against PSG, who thrashed Brest 10-0 overall in their play-off encounter, there has been little benefit for that.
Arsenal has been drawn against PSV, meantime. Two additional major connections exist: Bayern Munich plays Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid faces Atletico Madrid in a much- awaited Derby. Arsenal will have to pay a quarter-final match against either Real or Atletico should they pass PSV.
Aston Villa escaped a last-16 test against Borussia Dortmund and instead drew against Club Brugge, whom they defeated in November during the league season. From what seems to be the tougher side of the draw, the winner of that encounter will play Liverpool or PSG in the quarter-finals.
