The DFL pointed out some of the causes of these gains. Media rights, advertising, and sponsorships deals were also a boost and spectator interest was also high. Almost 21 million tickets were sold in the two divisions as a new record of attendance.

DFL Chief Executive Marc Lenz stressed the balance of the league. He pointed out that even in the world scenarios, German professional football remains competitive. At the same time economically stable. Lenz emphasized the need to carry on with such a strategy in order to make initiatives in sporting and financial sustainability.

Another executive of DFL, Steffen Merker, pointed to social popularization of football as a driving force. He described that the economic strength of the league is supported by millions of fans, sponsor and media contributions.
