Nagelsmann as head coach.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, “Bayern are parting ways with Nagelsmann with immediate effect,” according to BILD. The favorite to take his position is Thomas Tuchel.
According to BILD, “Bayern have determined that Nagelsmann is the main culprit” of the team’s poor play.
Though they are now in second place in the Bundesliga, one point behind Dortmund, the Bavarians are still in the running for the Champions League and DFB Pokal.
The German coach has a perfect 8/8 record in matches played in the Champions League so far this season, and he had just convincingly eliminated PSG.
This was obviously insufficient for him. After leaving Chelsea, Tuchel was a free agent and a candidate who had been mentioned in the German press for months.
Bundesliga : Bayern Munich sack Nagelsmann with Tuchel
Hasan Salihamidzic, a member of the Bayern board, had harsh words to say following last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen: “This is not what Bayern Munich stands for. We lost everything because we allowed a squad who had just played on Thursday to overpower us. Rarely have I encountered such a lack of motivation, attitude, and boldness.
But, a “strange” vibe has surrounded Bayern’s training facilities for some weeks. Before to the match against Leverkusen a few days ago, BILD leaked comprehensive tactical instructions that Bayern had prepared for the match against Bochum. This prompted the German coach to address the media.
“I’m irritated. I give it a lot of thought because I consider what the person passing it on is attempting to accomplish. What do they anticipate? I always make an effort to determine the cause, but I am unable to do so. I don’t believe Springer (BILD) would spend 500,000 euros on that kind of material. I don’t think it can be a financial issue,” a visibly irate Nagelsmann stated.
