Brazil’s surprise plans shatter Neymar, Messi reunion dreams

Recent reports surrounding Neymar’s future with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal include a possible reunion with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Bolavip reports that fresh Brazilian reports suggest an unexpected option for the Brazilian forward, suggesting that his future destination may not be with the Argentine football great.

In an interview with TV show Panico, Santos vice-president Osvaldo Nico said: “Neymar joins Santos in June. That’s our conversation.”

Given the previous rumours, this is surprising.

Due to injuries, the 32-year-old Brazilian footballer has played little since joining Al Hilal from PSG in mid-2023.

His $100 million deal with Saudi Arabia is one of the richest in football, and no other team, even Santos, could match it.

The emotional bond Neymar has with his previous club may decide.

Neymar joined Santos aged 17 in 2009 and became its star. The club employed him for five years.

Neymar guided the team to six titles, including a Copa Libertadores. Barcelona, which reportedly spent up to $90 million for his acquisition in 2013, was impressed by his 136 goals and 69 assists in 225 games.

Santos are very different a decade after Neymar left. Relegation for the first time in 2023 has devastated the once-dominant Brazilian club.

Neymar’s comeback might revive the club and help it return to elite status.

Nico added, “Everyone played well with Neymar at Santos; even (Ze) Love and Andre scored goals. He goes to Santos.”
