Bayern Optimistic on Kane’s Celtic Return

After Harry Kane skipped training ahead of the Champions League encounter, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany stated he thinks the striker will be healthy to meet Celtic on Tuesday. German media stated that Kane picked up a knock in the hard-fought 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga Saturday.

Kompany said he could not say for sure if Kane will play, but he indicated a choice would be decided on Tuesday morning in Munich.

“(It’s) absolutely nothing negative. Kompany told reporters on Monday that we had merely had extremely limited time to heal and occasionally you need an extra day.

Against Leverkusen, Bayern was unusually defensive; Kane and other strikers dropped back to assist the visitors in maintaining a clean sheet, therefore preserving their eight-point lead at top of the table.

Bayern Optimistic on Kane’s Celtic Return

“We´ll see early tomorrow how he feels, but I assume it\’s nothing too bad — we´ve just got very little time to refresh and recover,” said Kompany.

“We′ll see tomorrow.”

Kane underwent treatment against Leverkusen before half-time following a head collision with Piero Hincapie’s shoulder. Bayern have not lost at home in the Champions League since April 2021; Kane scored in the 2-1 triumph at Celtic Park last week in the first leg of the knockout round play-off encounter.

Kompany said Celtic were “always dangerous, but so are we. This is a home game; we will try to make that play to our benefit. Despite the quick turn around following Saturday’s top-of- the-table collision, Bayern midfielder Jamal Musiala claimed the team had “no excuses”.

None of us want to have justifications. We use the days to get ready for the game; then, we have to give it our best. We are fresh and will provide everything tomorrow, said Musiala.
