After departing Bayer Leverkusher, the team said on Thursday German defender Jonathan Tah signed a four-year contract, valid until 30 June 2029. Tah joined Bayern on a free transfer after making 402 appearances for Leverkusen, supporting them to win the Bundesliga in 2023-24.

In a statement, Tah said he was glad to be part of FC Bayern and hopes to thrive and bring trophies for the squad.

“Being at FC Bayern makes me rather glad. Here, I want to take on responsibility and work hard every day so that we succeed as a team and win many trophies together,” Tah stated.

Tah began his senior career at Hamburg then joined Leverkusen in 2015. During his first year in the team, he made his international debut for Germany and compiled 35 appearances for the former world champions.

The sporting director of Bayern reported that they had an experienced international player on hand to improve their defense. Christoph Freund stated, “We have signed a player with international experience and skill who won’s not need much time to establish himself in our defence.

The CEO of FC Bayern, Jan-Christian Dreesen, said they embrace Tah as a leader and support him to provide consistency and excellence to their defense.

It gives us great pleasure to have Jonathan Tah joining FC Bayern. Having led and experienced internationally, he adds the consistency and quality needed to improve our defense. For us, he is a huge gain; he has also shown that he can win titles.
