Barcelona topped La Liga after a brilliant second half against Sevilla
With a dominant second half against Sevilla, Barcelona increased their lead at the top of La Liga to eight points. After a dull first half, the home team took the lead with a side-footed shot from Jordi Alba.
After 71 minutes, Gavi tapped in Raphinha’s cross to double the lead, and the Brazil winger completed the scoring by poking in Alba’s cross. The defeat drops Sevilla to 16th place, only two points above the relegation zone. Barcelona’s captain, Sergio Busquets, was forced off with an ankle injury after only four minutes.
On February 16, Barcelona will host Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie. Earlier on Saturday, Real Madrid missed out on a chance to cut Barcelona’s advantage to just two points after losing 1-0 to Mallorca.
