Last year, when Girona came in third place and qualified for the Champions League, everyone was shocked. They took it easy to begin the season. They tied Real Betis and then lost to Atletico Madrid 3-0. With wins over Osasuna and Sevilla, Girona went back to the flashy style that made them one of the most popular teams in La Liga last year.

The rich Abu Dhabi owners of Girona fought Real Madrid for the title last season and beat Barcelona twice, so Barcelona didn’t win any trophies. When Barcelona played badly, Xavi Hernandez, the team’s former boss, quit in a harsh way.

Spain’s LaLiga has rules about Financial Fair Play, and Barcelona had to sell Ilkay Gundogan, Clement Lenglet, and Vitor Roque to follow them. Even though they just added Dani Olmo, a Spanish attacker, the team seems to have come back to life under Flick.

I like Robert Lewandowski a lot. He has scored four goals in La Liga, which is the most in the league. Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal, two young players, have made Barcelona’s attack stronger. Raphinha is now at his best two years after moving from Leeds United to Barcelona for €60 million.
