After a scoreless draw against Girona on Monday and a 4-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, Sunday’s result was not a good one. Barca has an 11-point advantage over Madrid with nine games left in the league, despite scoring problems. On the quarter-hour mark, the visitors had two shots in rapid succession strike the post.

First, Raphinha had a one-on-one opportunity after a Marc-Andre ter Stegen goal kick, but his shot hit the post instead. After the half, Raphinha had the best chance for the visitors, but Getafe custodian David Soria was able to save his attempt from the outskirts of the box. Barca boss Xavi also had to substitute Sergi Roberto in the first half when he injured his hamstring.

After beating Almeria 2-1 at home on Sunday, Diego Simeone’s team will meet rivals Atletico Madrid the following week. With his two goals, Antoine Griezmann propelled Atletico to third position, two points behind Real, and twelve points ahead of fifth in the battle for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Sevilla beat Valencia 2-0 as they warmed up for the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal against Manchester United. Sevilla is now 12th, eight points ahead of the bottom three, thanks to goals from Loic Bade and Suso in the second half, while Valencia is still in the relegation zone, three points away from safety.
