While Ousmane Dembele’s future continues to be the focus of Barcelona news, Julian Araujo is close to leaving the Blaugrana. In fact, Fabrizio Romano says that the 21-year-old right-back is about to join newly-promoted La Liga club Las Palmas on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

The move is expected to happen soon. Araujo signed with Barcelona in January of this year, but he hasn’t played a single competitive game yet because his transfer wasn’t approved by FIFA because the club was a little late with the papers.
So, the Mexican international spent the last six months working with the first team and the Barca Atletic squad instead of playing club football. The only time he played for Blaugrana was in a friendly against Vissel Kobe at the end of the season.
Since the 21-year-old has never played football in Europe, it was important for Barcelona that he go on loan to a team where he can get regular playing time. This season, Las Palmas got a spot back in La Liga. According to Romano, they have been trying to sign him since June, and they have now been able to do so.
