The Spaniard slammed VAR Lee Mason for failing to see offside in the build-up to Brentford’s equalizer at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with the Bees. Replays revealed that the goal should not have been allowed to stand, and the decision cost Mason his job with the PGMOL.
Mikel Arteta’s comments after Arsenal’s draw with Brentford last weekend have been criticized, and talkSPORT host Natalie Sawyer has hit back at the Gunners manager.
Arteta slammed by Sawyer
Following Arteta’s remarks, Sawyer, a lifetime Brentford supporter, took issue with the Spaniard, admitting on Saturday morning that it “very irritated” her. Brentford had more than one scoring chance at the Emirates and should’ve struck earlier after Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo both squandered decent chances.
“This has been getting on my goat for a while – the fact Mikel Arteta has kept going on about ‘give us our two points back’, that has riled me a lot,” said the talkSPORT Weekend Sports Breakfast host.
“I think it’s deluded and very disrespectful from Arteta to assume, with 20 or so minutes to go, that you were going to win that game against Brentford. I know I’m going to say that, it’s my team, but that has really riled me.”
