Arne Slot Warns Liverpool Ahead of Final Goodison Derby

Arne Slot’s side travels Stanley Park carrying a six-point advantage over Arsenal; this is their match in hand on the Gunners; original fixture was postponed in December; Premier League leaders Liverpool play Everton on Wednesday night in the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Arne Slot, head coach of Liverpool, expects his first-choice squad will manage the passion of Goodison Park’s last Merseyside derby better than the second string whose “unacceptable” performance led in Plymouth being booted out of the FA Cup.

The Dutchman’s risk in excluding nine of the squad who defeated Tottenham to go to the Carabao Cup final last Thursday ended in a 1-0 loss to the Championship’s worst team on Sunday. Nine senior squad players—including a forward line of Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz—were still part of that starting XI, but they couldn’t find a way to break down dedicated and disciplined opponents.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo will all be back for Everton’s 122nd and last Derby at their ancient home, where the atmosphere is probably going to be pumped up even more than usual.

“It should have an influence since, working for a team like this, you should aim for every trophy. To lose against Plymouth is unacceptable,” stated Liverpool’s cup exit’s Slot.

“We now have to present a different side of us since the performance fell far below Liverpool’s standards as well, not merely the outcome.

“Every every time they cross the halfway line or get a corner the crowd will applaud for that and then you have to be mentally incredibly tough as an away team to overcome all that. It is probably going to be a terrific atmosphere and that is never easy to play against.
