Arne Slot Targets Premier League Glory with Liverpool

Arne Slot, head coach of Liverpool, has indicated his wish to raise the Premier League trophy in front of a crowded Anfield since the Reds are comfortably leading twelve points ahead of second-ranked Arsenal.

On the brink of creating history, Slot might be the first Dutchman and only third Liverpool manager to take home the league trophy in his first season. Previous achievers in this regard were Joe Fagan (1983–84) and Kenny Dalglish (1985–86).

Five years ago under former manager Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool last won the league. But with the title celebrations taking place in an empty stadium, the victory was shadowed by the Covid-19 epidemic. Liverpool had won their first league title in thirty years.

Slot hopes the title victory of this season will turn out differently.

“Everyone is looking forward Sunday since we know the last time this club won the league was Covid time, thus we have great responsibility.” he remarked.

“At least one point is that we still have work to do, though. That is what we know, and we are very obviously aware of here within this facility.

“Hopefully our supporters are aware of the fact that we still need a point and support us in the best possible manner they can have done the whole season.”

Slots would also join a select group of managers who have won the Premier League in their first season: José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte, and Manuel Pellegrini.

The Dutchman, however, believes those records are not right now in his consciousness.

“I get these questions, so it comes to you, naturally, but that’s the last thing you think about as a manager at this particular moment,” he said. “The only thing I’m concentrated on is having all the players available and properly preparing them.”

With their next game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Liverpool requires just one point from their five surviving games to guarantee the title.
