Amorim Defends Sesko After Neville Criticism

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has joined hands with Benjamin Sesko following the criticism of his slow adaptation to the Old Trafford environment by club legend Gary Neville.

Sesko signed by United at a cost of PS73.7 million following the summer transfer of the player who left RB Leipzig has only managed to score twice in 11 games. His non-participation in the recent 2-2 draw up against Nottingham Forest of which he only had 21 touches throughout the 90 minutes, led Neville to call him awkward and underwhelming.

Talking to United before they play Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, Amorim acknowledged that the 22 year old has had a hard time adapting but insisted that the fans be patient. And that is a fact, Mr. Amorim, he has had a hard time a bit. We will support him and help him because he is a hardworking man and he is willing to achieve.

The Portuguese coach indicated that the scrutiny associated with young players of Manchester United can be overwhelming. There was no harder club he could have chosen. At United, failure to deliver every week prompts criticism from pundits, legends and the media alike, Amorim observed.

Amorim was, however, optimistic about Sesko that he can develop into his position and bring about long-term outcomes. The future of our striker. He will have his low moments and high moments, but that is how great players are built, said he aggressively.

Manchester United is eager to bounce back in the Premier League against Tottenham on Saturday after a series of inconsistent results. Amorim’s support for Sesko is an attempt to build the striker’s confidence, as the Red Devils are still rebuilding under the man’s leadership.
