Alexander Isak Reacts to Newcastle Statement

Alexander Isak, who just signed with Liverpool, has spoken out against Newcastle United’s remark a few days after he moved to the Reds.

On the last day of the summer transfer window, Isak moved from Newcastle to Liverpool on a long-term deal. This ended one of the longest transfer stories of the summer. On September 1, the Magpies accepted a £125 million ($170 million) bid for the Sweden international. Earlier this month, they turned down an offer of £110 million plus extras.

Newcastle left Alexander Isak off their pre-season tour of Asia because of a “minor thigh injury.” He hasn’t played a single game for the Magpies this season.

He was training alone because of his ties to Liverpool. But when the Reds’ first offer was turned down by his old club, he turned down the chance to join the Newcastle squad. In a statement, he said that the St. James’ Park club had “broken” agreements and that their “relationship can’t continue.”

In response, the club declared, “No club official has ever promised that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.”

Now that it’s been a few days since his transfer, the Swedish player has spoken to the media following a 2-0 loss to Kosovo in the 2026 World Cup qualifier. He said that not everyone has a clear picture, but that’s a topic for another day.

He also looked happy to be back on the pitch after a long transfer process.

“It’s good that everything was worked out before the team, so I could focus on playing football again.” I’ve only been in this circumstance for a short time, but you can always learn and grow psychologically off the pitch as well. “It is a little like that,” Isak said.

“It’s evident that not everyone has all the facts, but that’s a topic for another day. Right now, I’m disappointed about this match and how it transpired. But I also feel good about the club team portion that is coming up.

The Swedish player transferred from Real Sociedad in La Liga to Newcastle for £60m in 2022. Last season, he scored 27 goals in 42 games across all competitions.
