Alexander-Arnold Explains Liverpool Exit Decision

When his contract ends on June 30, 2025, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has declared that he would be leaving the club, effectively ending a two-decade-long relationship with his boyhood side.

Alexander-Arnold, a Liverpool Academy product, joined the team at six years old and debuted seniorally in 2016. Now 26, the England international claims that leaving was tough but essential for his professional and personal development.

“I want to first and most importantly explain that this is not a simple choice. Alexander-Arnold added, “There’s been a lot of thought and feeling behind it.” “I’ve been here 20 years now, loved every single minute of it, fulfilled all my dreams, achieved everything I have ever wanted to here.

“For me as a player and as a person, giving everything day in, day out for 20 years feels like I have reached a point where I need a fresh challenge. I think this is the proper moment right now.

The full-back sincerely thanked Liverpool fans for their unflinching support over his career.

“There is much I would want to say. The primary thank you is really large. You have been there from the beginning and have helped me through everything,” he remarked.

“It has never gone unseen; I have always felt the love and encouragement. I hope it’s apparent that I have returned everything I could have given the club in exchange,” he said.

Alexander-Arnold also answered questions regarding the announcement’s timing, exhorting supporters to concentrate on commemorating the team’s achievements this season.

“I’m just hoping that we’re able to carry on winning games and that the noise around my decision doesn’t shade what we’ve achieved this season,” he said.
