2023 Trophée des Champions to be played in Bangkok. Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok will host the 2023 Trophée des Champions, according to the LFP Board of Directors.
The first official match of the 2023 season between the reigning Coupe de France champion and the defending Ligue 1 Uber Eats champion will take place on Saturday, August 5, in Bangkok, Thailand, following two editions in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Trophée des Champions, the premier international tournament for Ligue 1 Uber Eats, will take place in Asia for the fourth time in its existence this year.
Following holding editions in Beijing, China in 2014, and Shenzhen, China in 2018 and 2019, the LFP chose to return to Asia, a crucial region in its global development strategy.
In partnership with Fresh Air Festival Co., Ltd., the LFP has chosen Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, for the 2023 edition with the goal of organizing a French Football Festival in South East Asia, where there are an estimated 400 million football fans, and filling the renowned Rajamangala National Stadium.
The 2023 Trophée des Champions to be played in Bangkok
Leading Thai event planner Fresh Air Festival organized notable concerts, festivals, and the largest football match ever played in the area last summer.
The LFP is proud to work with Fresh Air Festival Group to bring the best of French football to the Thai audience and to advance France’s reputation there and abroad.
The LFP has chosen to contribute to France’s climate obligations targeted at carbon neutrality as part of its CSR strategy, in addition to the measures to decrease the carbon footprint that is carried out as part of the organization of the Trophée des Champions. As a result, the LFP will take part in funding a project that has been given the « Label Bas Carbone » (« Low Carbon Label ») designation by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. This initiative will enable France to cut back on its greenhouse gas emissions.
